First Aid for Anaphylaxis

The purpose of this anaphylaxis first aid course is to develop the skills and knowledge to assist a casualty suffering a severe allergic reaction, by the administration of the casualty’s own adrenalin supply through a controlled dose injecting device (Epipen), until the arrival of medical assistance.

In addition this anaphylaxis first aid course develops skills in the recognition, management, prevention and risk minimisation strategies related to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, providing the outcomes required to develop and implement a management plan to reduce the risk of severe reactions in individuals diagnosed with anaphylaxis.

The course will equip staff and carers with a knowledge of anaphylaxis to enable them to maintain a safe and healthy environment in which a person at risk of anaphylaxis can participate equally in all aspects of the workplace and recreational activities, including children’s services,  programs and schools.
